About Us

Welcome to Scouting in Westport, CT with Troops 39 & 139! We are a non-profit youth-led organization dedicated to providing young adults with the opportunity to learn essential life skills through scouting activities and community engagement. Our Troops pride themselves on providing a premier scouting experience and creating an exciting calendar of activities that offers plenty of opportunities to be both active and outdoors!
While we encourage our scouts to attend as many activities as they can, ALL of our scouts have other obligations including sports, the arts, and various extracurricular organizations. We are happy to work with scouts to help accommodate other obligations and still ensure they have a rich and meaningful scouting experience.
Adult Leadership Team
Our Troops have a collaborative group of experienced, trained, and committed adult leaders!
From driving scouts to events, helping with refreshments for Troop celebrations, camping out with the Troops, helping plan activities, or teaching scouts/ leading merit badges about specialized topics, we welcome parents to get involved!

Skill-Building
Through troop guided merit badges, rank-advancement and hands-on leadership that is "for scouts, by scouts" by design, our troop and our scouts are always learning and growing - as leaders, citizens and young adults!
Community Service
We are active participants in town and supportive of a wide variety of charitable and conservation initiatives.

Leadership Development
Well beyond Troop programing and hands-on experience, Scouting offers a broad set of both formal and informal leadership training.
From council-organized national service organizations like Order of the Arrow to formal leadership training programs like National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT), scouting offers a myriad of opportunities for scouts interested in Leadership Development.
Cultural Exchange
Our Scouts can take advantage of international scouting events and global cultural exchanges like the Blair Atholl Jamborette in Scotland.
Every two years, a local contingent of scouts travels to Scotland to engage with scouts from all over the world, experience different backgrounds and learn about different cultural traditions. These opportunities foster a deep spirit of community, curiosity, adventure, self-reliance, and unity.

Fun!
The scouts have input into the activities we plan each year and while there is always plenty of outdoor adventure, scout skills and learning... there is also always a healthy dose of fun!
We hope you'll join us for a meeting and see all that Scouting has to offer!
